SCHEDULE FOR THE 2007 WINTER/SPRING SESSION!
What is the NEXTWAVE?
The Evansville Civic
Theatre has had a long, rich history of providing quality entertainment to
the community. But a theater is only as good as its performers. We have
been very fortunate to showcase many talented local performers and have
built a wonderful family of theater enthusiasts within our community. We
here at ECT would like to see that family grow. Enter, ECT - NEXTWAVE. The
NEXTWAVE is the banner of our new Educational Program. NEXTWAVE will offer
classes and productions to students of all ages, with the hope of
educating individuals in the art of theater and in essence, training the
next generation of great Civic Theatre performers.
NEXTWAVE PRODUCTIONS:
ECT: NEXTWAVE Productions will
present exciting opportunities for young actors this season. Both of the
scheduled performances will be directed by resident Director of Education,
Christopher P. Tyner and further information about these projects can be
obtained by contacting the theatre.
ACTS OF GOD
November 16-19, 2006
Acts of God is the title of a new play by local playwright,
Mark Rigney. The show focuses on the experiences of young adults in the
wake of a devastating tornado. Drawing inspiration from the events of the
Nov. 6th 2005 tornado that affected our community, the play will address
not only the touchdown of the storm, but also the recovery efforts, the
grieving process, and the business of getting on with life - both at home
and in high school - as friendships and allegiances shift, beliefs and
faith are tested, and the threat of future storms lurks daily just below
the western horizon...
Acts of God will give a group of exciting young performers the opportunity
to take part in the creation of a play with the author on hand. The final
performance will be a riveting look at the inner workings of putting a
play together, as performers have had input into the creative process. A
rare opportunity of great value both for students and audience alike!
GODSPELL
May 11-13, 2007
Godspell is one of the biggest Off-Broadway and Broadway
successes of all time. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and
featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, Through a string of
well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day” , the
parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life.
Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime,
charades, acrobatics and vaudeville, Godspell is a groundbreaking and
unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness,
tolerance and love.
Godspell will be a combined cast of High School and Middle School
performers, allowing the older students the chance to act as a mentor to
their younger cast members.
GODSPELL HAS BEEN CAST!
