Sue Schriber will set the tone and launch the evening with
the title song from "Cabaret." Alan Jobe will reprise a role
from one of the "Nunsense" revues. And more than a dozen other
community players will take to the stage in a talent show and
fund raiser for Evansville Civic Theatre this weekend.
The "Shower of Stars" will feature veterans and less familiar
performers in a two-hour showcase of singing, dancing comedy,
playing at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday in
Civic Theatre.
Schriber's performance will kick off a lineup that will
include a revue of numbers from "Chicago,"
Other acts will include LuBaaba, a local belly-dancing
troupe, comedy by Leo Kempf, who trained at Chicago's Second
City, songs by Gina Moore of the Browne Sisters, Michael and
Jennifer D'Alto, Dick Sidener, Julie Schembre and Chris Tyner,
Civic's education director.
Along with the D'Altos, family acts will include Eric and
Amanda Antey, Troy and Alysia Rhinefort, and Molly and Nikki
Hodgen.
The lineup will culminate in a revue of Broadway songs and,
in keeping with the show's family theme, a finale featuring the
whole cast backing up Gina Moore in "We Are Family."
