BAT Camp
CLICK HERE FOR A REGISTRATION FORM The Evansville Civic Theatre NEXTWAVE Educational program invades the Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville this summer with their popular Basic Actor Training Camp. BAT Camp is an exciting adventure in acting for children ages 6-13 that focuses on basic stage movement, presence, voice projection, mime, improvisation, character development and other fun activities centered around the stage. Due to the overwhelming success of the past two summer camps, Civic Theatre recently shook hands with the education coordinators at cMoe, closing the deal on making BAT Camp even more exciting by being able to move to the wonderful and imagination-rich surroundings of the Children’s Museum. It’s all about the animals this year as cMoe’s famous Quack Factory at serves as the jumping on point for this summer's BAT Camp, inspiring the NEXTWAVE to develop a program around the story of “The Ugly Duckling” for the little ones, as well as mixing in some other animal stories from Rudyard Kipling's “Just So Stories” for the older campers. There will be opportunities for the entire group to interact and have fun together, but the majority of time will be spent in small, age appropriate mini-troupes to rehearse their own shows, each led by its own director. The educational staff will consist of Christopher Tyner, Civic’s Director of Education, several adult chaperones, four college theatre/education majors, and eight high school assistants, all of whom are excited in sharing their love for theatre with the next generation of young actors in the tri-state area! The camp will approach each group with fun and exciting material that will make them laugh and give them a chance to play all sorts of fun characters, showing them that using their imagination can create wonderful experiences for themselves and for their audience too! Civic Theatre’s BAT Camp, part of the NEXTWAVE Educational Program, will take place June 16-20 at the Children’s Museum of Evansville from 9 AM to 4 PM. The cost for the week long camp is $150.00 for a single child, with discounts available for sibling groups and cMoe members.
